ILUMINA in the spotlight: Night Tourism Workshop boosts development in Raia

30 November 2024

Last November, Forte da Graça, in Elvas, hosted the Night Tourism Workshop - Development Perspectives in Raia, promoted by the Regional Tourism Entity of Alentejo and Ribatejo. This event, a pioneer in addressing the potential of night tourism in the Euroace Euroregion, is of special relevance to the ILLUMINA project by contributing to tourism diagnosis and to the design of routes and information supports that will reinforce the creation and promotion of the brand “Cultural Night Destination”.

The initiative was officially welcomed by the Municipality of Elvas and the Alentejo Regional Tourism Entity, followed by interventions by entities such as Dark Sky® Alqueva in Alentejo, Turismo de Portugal, SPIRA and Lightware Architectural Lighting Design, culminating in the closing by the Iberdrola Spain Foundation.

Several entities and official bodies from Spain and Portugal, as well as companies from the Alentejo, were present, reinforcing the cross-border and collaborative nature that ILUMINA promotes. The success of the workshop confirms the growing importance of initiatives that value night tourism and local cultural identity, in alignment with the innovation and sustainability goals defended by the project.
